messed around with #megaman’s design inbetween work the other day. for fun.
So, for the story, I’ve got the gangs and everything, but the direction it’s taken recently makes me wonder if “Wasps” is an appropriate name for the main gang. Cicada kind of makes more sense in the context of the story. A gang that operates “underground” as it’s building power and pushes itself to the forefront once it’s developed and grown to the necessary size.
the current name, “Wasps” is just because I like Wasps. Wasps are certainly more threatening than Cicadas, and the name carries with it a sort of danger I think, where as Cicadas are just kind of annoying (I actually really like the noise they make, but everyone I’ve talked to about Cicadas say they find the noise annoying)
Oh yeah, I’m still alive, and still working. I finished the 100 days about… 15 days ago I think? I’ve actually kept it going, not wanting to break the chain. I’m afraid that if I break the chain I’ll fall back into the habit of not writing as often as I should.
About half way through the 100 days, I thought of a different direction I could take the story and started developing that idea more, resulting in some reqrites and alterations to later bits.
I’ve also started making a full scale 3D model of the city in which the story takes place, using a program called Google Sketchup. I highly recommend it. It’s functional and easy to use, and above all, FREE (though there is a “pro” version, and they give you a 30 day trial of it when you download the free version, which is pretty cool)
Man, listening to Grant Morrison talk is a trippy experience.
I feel like I should be high while watching this
Do all my writing during the day BEFORE I do everything else.
I’m just too worn out when I write later at night and I don’t get nearly as much done
I have been keeping up with the 100 days of making comics, I just haven’t been updating. I finished day 51 a few hours ago and today will be day 52
I don’t take selfies. I draw them apparently.

I was just looking through some of my old files and I found these. I was honestly surprised at the difference between them, especially considering that they’re just over a year apart from each other.
I worked on more writing (obviously) and encountered a block. Or rather a forking path, and I could only go for one option. Or so I thought.
I brought up my issue in a Skype group I’m part of, and my acquaintance, Mez (I say “Acquaintance” because I barely know the person. Not even sure of gender) Helped me brainstorm some solutions.
and then it clicked. Merge the paths into one! And it totally solves all the problems that were presented in having to choose just one path.
After that, I dicked around with my scanner, trying to get the damn thing to work, and after figuring out what was wrong (I was missing the installation software) I was able to fix the issue (By downloading the installation software directly from the manufacturer of the scanner)
So yeah, I got that baby up and running again. Problem is, I don’t remember the specific settings I used to scan on. I remember it was PNG, Greyscale, and then something else involving numbers. idk, I’ll figure it out, I’m sure.
So while cleaning this week, I stumbled upon one of my old sketchbooks from 2012. flipped through it a bit, and was reminded of just how rusty I am now compared to back then. It’s a bit of a confidence boost though. Sure, I’m rusty as all hell now, but just 3 years ago, I was doing pretty well (and I could actually draw hands decently, where did that ability disappear to?). If I was at that level before, I can get there again. I just gotta work at it. In 2012, I was almost entirely focused on drawing. Now, 3 years later, I’m almost entirely focused on writing. I need to find a balance between the two.
